School planning 18 houses for teachers

Work has started on the construction of 18 houses for teachers at Wau Primary School in Bulolo, Morobe.
Head teacher Mathew Humango, deputy Steven Raino and board chairman Maru Bati inspected the site where the ground was being levelled to prepare for building to start.
“We will build 18 new houses for our teachers to live in the teachers’ village within the school grounds,” Humango said.
Raino said the fence around the sports field was done.
The project is expected to cost over K1.5 million, with the school raising some of it and the rest to be sought from the government.
Raino said the construction work itself will begin as soon as the fund is available.
“Due to a shortage of accommodation, many teachers are living outside the school and walking to and from the school everyday,” he said.
“The teachers will move into the new houses once the project is completed.
“We want all the teachers to be accommodated within the school grounds in the new teachers’ village.”
Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu will be invited to the ground-breaking ceremony to signal the start of construction at the end of the school year.
