School receives AusAID funding

AUSTRALIA is providing a K70,000 funding for a double classroom at the Kagai Elementary School in the Youngomugl local level government in Chimbu.
Provincial grant committee chairperson Palma Goglka said Kagai would be the first elementary school among the 62 in the Sinasina-Yongomugl electorate to have a double classroom and staff office.
“Kagai elementary deserves this funding as a result of proper submission of school acquittals and community recommendations from churches and ward councillors,” Golka said.
AusAID Highlands regional project coordinator Aina Kaupa said funding through the ‘Strongim Pipol Strongim Nesen’ programme focused on early childhood education development.
“The focus of the community development section of AusAID and SPSN is to help motivate schools, churches and organised groups to be part of this community project fund,” he said.
Head teacher Daneiel Teine thanked Golka for recognising Kagai as the model elementary school. He received K2,000 from Yongomugl LLG president Paul Kuri to buy school material.
