A HIGH school in East New Britain received a new truck to ease the school’s transport problems since its establishment two years ago.
Bitapaka High School, in the Bitapaka local level government (LLG) of Kokopo district, was presented the truck on Friday by Kokopo MP and Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Emil Tamur.
The truck was purchased by the Kokopo City Authority board through the Kokopo administration at a cost of K113,000 from PNG Motors’ Kokopo branch.
Since the establishment in 2017, the school did not have a truck to pick up students from Kokopo town and nearby surroundings communities.
As a result, students often late getting to school and then getting back home in the evenings.
Tamur also pledged more support towards Bitapaka HS which was recently awarded secondary status.
He said the Kokopo administration had committed K1.5 million towards the establishment of the school since 2017.
Tamur said most of the money had gone to building school infrastructures.
