A PRIMARY school in East Sepik, which began 13 years ago has seen more than half of its grade eight students off to high schools.
Bugusu Primary School in Yangoru-Saussia has been doing well in sending students to high school, according to deputy head teacher Elizabeth Maken.
“The students (had) worked hard to bring the school to its current state and given its registration and 15 positions,” she said.
“This is through our MP Richard Maru who had helped in connecting the school with people from the Education Department that had the school registered.”
Maken said as a local teacher, she saw that the people and students needed such a service.
Maru urged the students to secure spaces at the new Wingei High School that will start enrolling grade nine students next year.
“I do not want to see teachers and students who have good staff houses and classrooms not performing well.”
Maru said schools in the district had seen changes because he believed in building human resources.
