THE Port Moresby Soccer Association (POMSA) successfully completed their school soccer holiday programme with the staging of the grand final at Bisini Oval last Friday.
Despite sitting out in the cold, POMSA continued to promote soccer at school level by conducting such school soccer holiday programme.
POMSA general-secretary John Mogi said the competition could have attracted more community and primary schools but was contended to work on those schools who responded to
take part.
He said Kilakila Primary, Global Sea Eagles, Defence, Mungkas, Yamaros, Philip Aravure, POMSOE, Momase and Manau Juram school students took part in the four-day school holiday programme.
Mogi said the school soccer holiday programme was one of the many initiatives undertaken by president Russel Tsuga and his new executives. He plans to conduct a similar one in July by inviting all schools in the Southern region to take part against Port Moresby soccer clubs.
The school holiday programme was played in both U17 and the U19 boys respectively.
In the boys division, Momase defeated Defence 3-2 to win the Under 19 trophy while Yamaros Green finished third and Manau Juram on fourth place.
In the U17, Mungkas 1 beat Mungkas 2 1-0, while Momase beat Yamaros 1-0.
In the girls division, Yamaros shocked the PNG U17 filtered Mungkas team 2-0 for the U19 championship trophy while POMSOE settled for third spot with a 1-0 victory over Kilakila Primary.
