School to equate ratio

A school in Port Moresby will increase their streams from four to five classes to minimize the ratio of 1 teacher is to 50 students in a class.
Speaking during the opening of the four by one classroom in June Valley Primary School, headmaster Brian Ovia said the new facility will allow for Grade 4 and 5 to have five streams like the upper grades.
“The school has five streams of Grade 8, 7 and 6 and now we have two more extra space to have five streams of Grade 4 and 5,” he said.
Ovia said the Grade 7 class will move in to use the new facility funded by Moresby North West MP Michael Malabag.
“I have written to the Education Department and as soon as the department releases two teachers to me, we will have five streams of Grades 4 and 5.”
He said June Valley is a level seven school and he is planning to raise it to level eight because of the influx of student population flooding into the city.
