Schools’ database system launched
CENTRAL province is now better placed to monitor teachers and students following the launch of its schools database system in Port Moresby.
Valued at K110,000, the database would alleviate past problems of inaccurate teacher-school data, manual storage of teacher-school data, data retrieval delays through manual processes, planning and budgetary anomalies due to incorrect data and others.
Acting deputy administrator for advisory and monitoring Titus Hatagen said the database would be downloaded into the administration’s server next week.
Deputy provincial administrator coordination and implementation Gei Raga said the division was always in the “spotlight” over teachers’ leave fares and other anomalies that had prompted the division to take that step.
Raga, who launched the database, said the division had established a database in 2009 but it was tampered with.
Some of the application features are collation of teacher information and automatic calculation of leave and travel fare eligibility.
