AN inter-school fellowship has been established in Lae to help students turn away from bad behaviour and influence.
The fellowship, to be known as the Morobe Schools Fellowship, will be launched by Education Minister James Marape today at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
The fellowship was thought up by principals and headmasters in Lae during a recent conference.
Busu Secondary School teacher Douglas Kilipi said after its launch, the fellowship “will be observed annually at the end of every second-term break”.
Kilipi said the fellowship would help the students turn away from bad habits.
“There have been so many incidences in Morobe schools where students are involved in cult activities, abuse of alcohol and drugs, fights and other bad activities,” Kilipi said.
He said the fellowship would include all secondary schools in Lae – Bugandi, Lae, Busu and Bumayong secondary schools, National Polytechnical Institute (Lae Tech), Malahang Technical High School and grade seven and eight from primary schools.
He said the fellowship might be extended to other schools in the province.
