Schools affected

Letters

We are almost in the middle of the year and all the schools around the country are affected due to the lockdown.
The Government should respond to this issue.
Many boarding students are badly affected during this state of emergency period.
Students attending universities around the country are not feeling safe, they need to go home.
It will be difficult to complete this academic year because many lessons were not covered.
Universities are almost at the end of semester one and have note covered semester one topics.
Some courses require long hours of practical, field work and teaching to meet international standards.
These programmes include medical, engineering, social work and other practical programmes.
It will be impossible to restructure the education calendar for the 2020 academic year because we have lost many hours already.
University senates, school principals, education advisers, national education board, education secretaries and ministers should take this into consideration.
Make a decision whether to cancel the academic year or look for alternatives to assist students complete this academic year.
Create an online learning mode such as use of moodle platform and Google classroom for students learning.
They can stay at home and learn.
Or if not cancel the year and send students home.
