THREE schools, one in Milne Bay, one in Northern and one in Central are recent recipients of Digicel PNG Foundation’s continued investment in education.
The three recipients – Taulu Elementary School situated on the Nomanby Island, Milne Bay, saw its first permanent double classroom, Tufi Elementary School, in Ijivitari district, Northern, with its second permanent double classroom and Kokorogoro Primary School in Rigo district, Central, is the third primary school with its first double primary classroom with a total investment of K520,000.
Present to witness the launch were Esa’ala Open MP Davis Steven and district representatives.
Steven said such an education facility had never been seen in their school so their gratitude to Digicel Foundation was deeply felt by students, teachers, parents and our entire Nomanby Island community.
“We walked several days carrying the material from the main road to or school but it was all worth it. Thank you Digicel Foundation and we assure you that we will look after this investment.”
All projects come with two classrooms with an office space in between, desks, water tanks and two ventilation improved piping pit toilets and solar lighting.
Digicel PNG Foundation CEO, Beatrice Mahuru was moved by their gratitude.
“When we are from towns, it is easy to take so much for granted so when a community mobilises to overcome challenges, it puts everything into perspective,” she said.
