Schools league meeting on
REPRESENTATIVES of primary and secondary schools from Central will have a meeting tomorrow at the National Football Stadium at 1pm to finalise preparations for the season.
NCD Schools Rugby League manager Joseph Dongari said the meeting was for the interested schools to confirm their participation and registration for the year before the competition kicked off at the end of the month.
Dongari said the meeting would also require the attendance of sports teachers from the participating schools.
He said letters had been sent to the schools and the NCD and Central province education division had been notified of the meeting.
“I want to urge schools that will be taking part to see this as an opportunity of keeping their students busy in sports and stay away from school fights, cult practices and other disciplinary problems faced by schools,” Dongari said.
Dongari said the competition aim to promote gender equality, respect and positive attitudes.
Dongari said some schools were organising their own pre-season games for their Under-14 and Under-16 divisions (boys and girls).
Dongari said Moresby South schools would have their games at the Taurama Barracks while Moresby North West schools would have their games at Gerehu Primary School.
Dongari said teams from Central province would come from secondary schools.
Dongari appealed to the respective MPs from Moresby South (Justin Tkatchenko), Moresby North West (Sir Mekere Morauta) and Moresby North East (John Kaupa) to support the competition with K30,000 each.
