EIGHT schools around Port Moresby took part in learning about different sports and their benefits during the Olympic Day celebrations at the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex last Friday.
The event organised by PNG Olympic committee, had different sports like netball, basketball, rugby league, hand ball, martial arts, set up with national representatives stationed in different booths. A 15 minute-slot was set for each school at a different booth where they asked questions and learned from the sports.
Joshua Sanive, a grade eight student from Kaugere Primary school, said it was great learning about different sports especially netball which was mostly seen as a female sport in the country.
“I use to think netball was a weak sport, only for girls but I learned more about it,” Sanive said.
