This was NCDC’s initiative under its TVET Scholarship Scheme that sponsors 2050 students with K2.23 million.
“The purpose of this scheme is to ensure that no one will be left idle and no one will be left behind,”Parkop said.
He said he liked to see more skilled and technical people in NCD than other provinces as the capital lacked resources.
“There is no such thing called ‘failure’ in the education system.
“Everyone has a right to education. Therefore, our government has come on board to provide scholarships to underprivileged students who can’t further their education because of financial difficulties or pushed out of the system due to poor academic results.”
Parkop said that developments in infrastructures and sporting facilities for the 2015 Pacific Games could not benefit everyone socially after the games because many do not have the money or resource to enjoy them.
“To impact people’s livelihoods, we must equate economic, infrastructure and physical development with social development in the city.”
