Schools rugby takes a break for exams

THE National Capital District Schools Rugby League competition will have a week off this weekend and resume on Nov 8 due to next week’s grade eight national examination.
Competition coordinator Arnold Gende told The National yesterday that the Under-18 boys’ and girls’ divisions had completed two rounds so far with three rounds left.
In the boys’ division, Eki Vaki and Philip Aravure primary schools are in the top-two out of eight schools after perfect starts while Taurama and Kaugere have each registered one win and one loss.
Cellar dwellers Gerehu are yet to record a point while three other schools have each registered one loss and a draw.
In the girls’ division, which consists of only four schools, sees Kaugere on top of the ladder with two wins.
Hohola Demonstration are second with one win and one loss, followed by Taurama and Kila Kila Secondary who are yet to win a game.
“We don’t want the games to distract the students from their exams so we have given them the week off so they can concentrate on their exams,” Gende said.
“But everything is set, Sir John Guise Stadium will be available for us to use so we will resume our competition next month.”
Weekend results: Boys — Eki Vaki 14 Gerehu 0, Kaugere Primary 2 ECEM 0, Hohola Demonstration 0 Taurama 0, Philip Aravure 4 Kila Kila Secondary 0; Girls – Kila Kila Secondary 0 Taurama 0, Kaugere 8 Hohola Demonstration 4.
