SCHOOLS soccer in Port Moresby received a timely boost, with Lae Biscuit Company sponsoring their competition for K20,000.
The School Football Association Port Moresby is the beneficiary of LBC’s managing director Fabian Chow, a man who is no stranger to the code.
Chow, a former president of the PMSA, said he was pleased to support the programme and get children interested in the code at an early age.
“These are the future national players. School soccer is the key to capturing and developing the talent; it’s where their interest and imagination in the sport is nurtured,” Chow said when presenting the money to SFPOM representatives.
The firm is involved in backing sports with their current highest profile sponsorship being of the Snax Lae Tigers while other teams over a wide range of sports also have the backing of biscuit manufacturer’s brands.
The SFPOM complements the Youth Sports programme which is administered by the PNG Sports Foundation.
SFAPOM coordinator John Mogi thanked LBC for helping develop the footballers of tomorrow.
He said the money would go towards the hire of the venue to run the competition.
Mogi also thanked All Shelters PNG Limited for making the initial payment to get the competition off the ground and others who supported the individual school teams.
