THE 1-6-6 education policy will be seen in most primary schools this year with the renaming of elementary schools, a teacher says.
Hagara Elementary School head teacher Igo Borori told The National that the school would now be renamed Hagara Early Childhood Care.
“This will apply to all other elementary schools in the National Capital District and the country, which means they can have the school name but the elementary will change to Early Childhood Care (ECC),” Borori said.
He said in the ECC, they would have kindergarten which was four to five years old, six to seven year olds in prep and others in primary schools.
Borori said more than 1,000 students enrolled in the school last year, however, they would cut down this year because of the Government requirement to minimise the enrollment.
“We will minimise the enrollment without overcrowding in a class, minimum of 20 students, 10 boys and 10 girls with two teachers for kinder,” he said.
“Prep should have 35 students, 17 boys and 18 girls or, vice versa, with two teachers, to accommodate those teachers who have position in school but do not have the classroom.”
