 SCHOOLS in the Southern Highlands can access the Telikom Foundation Clean IT internet after the installation of the VSat connection.

Governor William Powi paid K500,000 to the chief executive officer of Telikom PNG Ltd Charles Litau to install the Vsat connection which will provide Clean IT services to five secondary schools and seven high schools in the province.

Powi said it was part of the province’s development plan for sectors such as health and education.

“The Vsat installation will complement the province’s master plan of restoration and the national government’s vision for 2013 being the year of implementation,” he said.

Litau said Telikom PNG would try its best to complete the projects in time. 

The Clean IT service will provide filtered usage of internet – meaning that the only websites accessible to students will be educational websites such as online dictionaries;encyclopedias and data bases for learning. Social networking sites will be blocked.
