SUSPENDED University of Technology Vice-Chancellor Dr Albert Schram says he is preparing his response to the allegations raised against him by the university council.
He was suspended by the council during a meeting last Friday and given seven days to respond to the allegations.
Schram said he would not comment on the matter further until after the council had met again to review his response to the allegations.
Attempts yesterday to get a comment from acting Chancellor Jean Kekedo were unsuccessful.
Council member and lawyer Sam Koim told The National on Monday that the issues regarding the suspension were confidential and would not be discussed in public.
He could only say that there were issues of “accountability” raised including Schram’s contract of employment.
Schram was appointed Vice-Chancellor in 2012.
A source at Unitech said the allegations against Schram included spending and travel expenses.
The source said Schram’s performance review in August 2016 was positive and there was no mention of the issues which were being raised now.
The source said Schram’s duty travels were mainly to restore the reputation of Unitech.
