SIMON Kaiwe has always wanted to start a business and he did it by selling scones and betelnuts on the streets under the sun or cold from the rain.
The commitment and the hard yards that Kaiwe put in saw him increasing his sales.
This led him to sell Coca-Cola drinks to complement his selling scones with other goods and also distributing Coca-Cola drinks to esky owners and other mini street outlets in the area.
But transport was always a burden for him since he hired other people to assist him.
However, as of last week the burden was removed from him with the presentation of a brand new Hyundai H100 ute, courtesy of Coca-Cola Amatil.
Kaiwe was the lucky winner after entering the Coca-Cola Highlands regional wholesale promotion for having purchased five cases of Coca-Cola products.
He was picked the lucky winner among the thousand entries in the competition.
The young man can now serve his customers without the worry of hiring transport.
Kaiwe was speechless at the handover ceremony and he thanked the good Lord for the blessings he gave.
“Mi laik tok tenkyu long Papa God long blesim mi wantaim dispela prais. Na tu mi laik tok tenkyu long ol wokman na meri bilong Coca-Cola na hope olsem planti kain promosen i mas kamap moa yet. ( I would just like to thank God our Father for blessing me with this prize and also would like to thank all the staff of Coca-Cola and hope that such promotions continue in the future),” Kaiwe said after receiving the vehicle.
