Scouts focusing on recouping properties
THE National Scout Association is on a mission to recoup its properties across the country, says national administrator Noel Pinda.
Pinda said the association had already lost many of its properties over the years and needed to consolidate its land and assets.
“We don’t want to lose them (properties) because it’s very hard to get them back so we’re trying to defend the existing ones,” he said.
“We have many properties around the country but, unfortunately, many of them have been taken through illegal means.”
Pinda said with Government recognition through annual grants since 2019, the association was able to support and sustain its operations and programmes as well as its properties around the country.
He said the association was working on a revised structure which was inclusive of provinces and districts and would empower them to effectively run the programmes.
Pinda called for more adult volunteers as they move to align with the Government’s plans for youth development and education.
“We are now working hand in hand, in line with the Government’s decision, through Education Department, for scouting programmes to be included in the school curriculum,” he said.
“So I’d like to call up on more adult volunteers to involve in this movement which is the largest volunteer youth education movement around the world.”
Pinda said a scout education policy had been developed and was ready for launch.
