Screen security firms properly, NAC told

THE National Airports Corporation (NAC) has been told to screen security companies operating at Lae’s Nadzab Airport properly.
This follows allegations that some security guards have on occasion released suspects caught trying to smuggle illegal items in or out at the airport.
Armsec operations manager Sahajid Ali said NAC needed to look into the matter and do a better job of monitoring security companies operating there.
“Suspects involved in drug trafficking have been released after paying guards, which is not good,” Ali said, adding that the airport needed a police post. NAC acting managing director Rex Kiponge said NAC was unaware of the matter as it had not received any formal complaints from the public or notice from the police.
