SCRUM conducts schools rugby clinics
The National, Thursday July 24th, 2014
FIVE schools in Madang were introduced to the Get Into Rugby (GiR) programme last week.
The programme was facilitated by Supporters Club Rugby Union Morobe’s (SCRUM) Robin Tarere and GiR coordinator Kapani Robert.
The schools that participated in the GiR clinics were Kusbau Primary School, Jomba Primary, Lutheran Day Primary, Madang Christian Academy and Holy Spirit Primary.
Robert said students responded positively to the programme.
With the increase in students’ participation, GiR is expected to spread throughout the country in all schools, developing in students and children an appreciation for rugby union.
Meanwhile, Aroma Coast upskilled their level of rugby with a Level 1 sevens coaching clinic that was conducted by PNGRFU development manager Sailosi Druma and PNG women’s sevens coach Elenoa Kunatuba.
They were assisted by PNG Palais players who took time off camp to run drills with children at Paramana village, Central.
