The National, Thursday 21st March, 2013
THE Northeast Papua Mission of the Seventh-Day Adventist church launched its website and newsletter last Friday in Popondetta, Northern.
The launching took place following a four-day media training conducted by the communication department of the PNG Union Mission (PNGUM).
Twenty-three participants from Milne Bay and Northern learnt the basics of writing news stories, photography and website designing.
The Oro administration’s media representative Benson McRubinas, congratulated the Adventist church for its insight.
McRubinas said the launching of the website and newsletter was the “first of its kind for the province”.
He urged the participants to utilise their skills to ensure that their church members were well-informed.
Meanwhile, the PNGUM communication director Pr Andrew Opis said the launching of the website was part of the church’s Vision 2020 corporate plan.
The plan is to connect all 10 local missions to the global community through the use of modern technology that is already available.
The North East Papua Mission is the sixth mission within the Seventh-day Adventist church in PNG to launch its website.
General secretary Pr Leonard Sumatau thanked the PNGUM for helping to connect the local mission to the global family via internet.
