SEA Eagles, a football club based in Taikone, Central, recently presented a token of appreciation to its major sponsor, Global Construction Ltd, at a small presentation ceremony at the company’s project site.

The club presented a certificate of appreciation, five trophies, four jumpers and four team posters to the road construction company in Port Moresby.

Based at Gabutu, Global Construction Ltd fulfilled its social obligation by supporting the local community with the sponsorship of uniforms and other sports equipment for the club participating in the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) competition.

Club secretary Meggi Eri thanked the company for the sponsorship.

He said the company’s support had boosted the team’s morale and performed very well this year despite making it in the competition for the first time.

Company secretary Nelson Yano said that Global Construction was proud to support the community, especially youths in the vicinity of their business through sports.

He said engaging youths through sports would help in reducing social problems, petty crimes, HIV/AIDS to ensure a safe and healthy community.

Yano said the company was proud to learn about club’s achievement last year in the PMSA competition.

Despite not winning any grand final last year, he challenged the club to do better this year and assured them of the company’s continued support.

The company donated K10,000 to Global Eagles FC and had also supported the Taikone Amateur Volleyball Association last year.

Club president Henry Kairi was thankful for the company’s support last year and their commitment to continue their support this year.
