Seats in Madang, Eastern Highlands yet to be declared

EASTERN Highlands and Madang still have seven seats each to be declared as the deadline for the return of writs nears.
They are among the 14 provinces that altogether still have 46 seats to be declared as at 6pm yesterday.
Southern Highlands has five and Chimbu with four are among the highest still outstanding.
Jiwaka, Western Highlands, National Capital District and Western all have three while Central has two left. East Sepik, Morobe, West Sepik and Bougainville have only the provincial seat winners to be determined.
Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato has been given approval from Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae to extend the deadline for the return of writs to Friday.
He urged the returning officers for the electorates still going through the counting stage to speed up the process.
