ACTING Finance secretary Dr Ken Ngangan has told the people of Madang to monitor how their leaders spend district and provincial funds.
Ngangan said the onus was on the treasury department staff to oversee how the K17million for each electorate would be spent.
“K50 million is a lot of money, therefore the face of the districts should be changed by the end of the parliamentary term,” he said.
“The governor will be looking after K30 million alone.
“Do not think that paperwork will not go unchecked and those breaking them will be referred to the Independent Commission Against Corruption.”
It has been revealed that K1.9m of the PSIP funds to be used for health, education, agriculture, law and order, roads and bridges was recently used to purchase new vehicles for the 19 LLG presidents in the province.
The provincial administration deposited K1,211,300 into the 2014 budget rollover funds under the provincial finance and administration which had a balance of only K86,284,43.
Ngangan said all such transactions would be investigated.
