Sector remains stagnant

Letters

I AM expressing my displeasure in a very expensive and expanded Law and Justice Sector that appears to exhaust a lot of public funds in many unfinished projects.
While I appreciate that this sector is doing everything possible within its powers to bring about the desired changes, a lot more that needs to be done which have not been attended too with urgency.
There are so many programmes currently managed by the Law and Justice Sector, yet none of the projects and reforms have been completed and delivered on time.
The only exception maybe the law reform commission.
A report on its success in legislative reforms per their mandate has been presented to parliament.
Law and Justice Sector remains stagnant and its reform and programme management is too slow.
There are laws needing amendments and reforms yet there is hardly any significant move.
A case in point, is the death penalty.
The law was passed yet its implementation has been stalled.
Can the responsible agency tell the nation why the delay?
There are others such as the proposed Human Rights Commission that are not progressing anywhere though huge amounts of public funds were spent in this sectorial projects.
The Government can only give directions and make policy calls, it’s you these responsible sectors that needs to get your acts together and manage these programmes and deliver.
It’s better to leave lasting legacies than to just spend time and retire with no lasting impressions in the bureaucracy.
Wake up Law and Justice Sector.
You need to support the government take back PNG.
