 THE national education sector is moving into the use of electronic system to monitor organisation and school performances, Education Secretary Dr Michael Tapo says.

He said the sector recently endorsed the information and communication technology-based performance management system for the department, Teaching Service Commission and the Office of Library and Achieves.

“These are the budgetary divisions under the education ministry administered by the national education sector. It also administers the provincial governments and district administrations,” he said.

Tapo said the software programme would provide a real-time data for reporting results and demanding accountability.

The organisation performance management system for the department would have a list of key performance statistics on:

Budget performance score;

activity milestone performance score;

evidence submission and quality preference score; and,

TMT/SSM performance review score.

The school-leveled performance management system will have a list of key performance statistics on:

whole school quality assessment score;

tertiary fee-free audit performance score; and,

Grade 8 national examination preference score.

“The three performance statistics criteria will be monitored at all districts and provinces,” Tapo said.

He said given the real evaluation of last year’s progress, the department could now adjust and move to another level using ICT.
