Security forces must remain impartial in polls

WHILE I respect our prime minister’s bold stand against the engagement of Australian-led regional force to assist our police during the coming general  election, it is also highly unlikely that our own police force will remain neutral.
Port Moresby policemen are fighting each other, even injuring some.
Such brutality amongst themselves is unheard of.
Recently, a group of soldiers confronted police personnel guarding the gates of the parliament.
Before that, policemen under top cop Fred Yakasa barred Peter O’Neill from entering the government house and we have also seen the police’s actions against the chief justice.
I doubt most candidates, especially women, will do well when our current MPs have had five years to market themselves to the people.
This tactic to shorten the campaign period is an indication that they do not want to be out-campaigned or their wrongs publicised.
I hope this election will be fair and that security personnel remain neutral.
