Seko begins title defence at Games on Royal Samoa Golf Course

Sports

TEAM Papua New Guinea’s Kristine Seko began her title defence when golf teed off on day three of the Pacific Games at the Royal Samoa Golf Course, Fagali’i.
Fourteen nations are competing on the course overlooking the Pacific. They are PNG, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Guam, New Caledonia, Niue, Northern Mariana Island, Norfolk Island, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.
Four events will be held, with medals awarded in individual and team events for men and women.
Prior to the Samoa 2019, New Caledonia and American Samoa took part in the Samoa Open at the same venue.
This was also when the final selections for the Samoan team were made. It will be interesting to see if their knowledge of the course assists them as they return to attempt to take home some medals.
Seko will be one to watch as the gold medallist at Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games. Arianne Klotz, who won bronze in 2015, will also be one to watch as she strives to better her previous scores. Ned Howard, from Cook Islands, will be looking to step up to win gold after taking home a silver medal at Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games. However, Team PNG’s Soti Dinki is returning so the competition is expected to be close.
