Selling on the street

Letters

I SUPPORT Lae Mayor Koim Leahy’S comments about people selling on the street (The National, Aug 8).
Street sellers who are mostly selling betel nut, cigarettes and other items, especially in the central business areas, are the ones creating the most rubbish and being careless with it.
As we see the number of street sellers increase, we are also seeing a correspondent increase in pickpocketing.
It is like what we are seeing at Gordon bus stop in Port Moresby where petty criminals are terrorising people who simply to go about their activities in peace.
What are we doing about this?
