Sending troops to Aussie not wise

Letters

AS a concerned citizen, I am so grateful of what our Prime Minister James Marape has done by sending 100 PNGDF soldiers to Australia to show our sympathy towards the victims of the devastating bushfire.
However, I think that is not a wise decision by a new leader and for a country that is currently suffering to regain its economy.
The deployment of the soldiers cost around K3.5 million which is too much.
That money can be used in million other ways to rebuild our economy such as investing in informal business sector or other agricultural activities or small business groups.
Australia is a well-developed nation and does not need our help.
Sending our condolences, sympathy and thinking of them in our prayers is way more powerful as a Christian nation, rather than wasting money and time sending 100 soldiers there.
What will the soldiers do? The Australians have more machines there to help clear the trees or debris caused by the fire, hence they do not need bare handed soldiers’ help.
Besides, the disaster has already happened.
Our soldiers will not replace what has already been lost.
Therefore, the only right way of helping the problem is to pray for them and the Lord will help them in million other ways.
