TWENTY-five senior men’s soccer players are in a three-day training camp in Port Moresby.

The camp, which started yesterday and will end tomorrow, is under the watchful eyes of new men’s coach Flemming Serritslev in preparation for the Nations Cup football tournament in May. Serritslev told The National that the players would be put through technical-tactical sessions.

He said the players were selected from the National Soccer League.

“I have been travelling between Lae and Port Moresby to monitor the performance of players, and I have a fair idea of who to choose for the Nations Cup,” Serritslev said.

“It is a training squad so the players still have to secure their spots.”

The coach said that there were many good footballers coming out of the semi-professional competition. He said the team would be having two friendly matches in the Solomon Islands, to be followed by three matches in South Korea as part of their lead-up preparations.

The final preparation will be in Port Moresby, a week before the event, with the first match against New Caledonia on May 28.

The squad:  Ismael Pole, Felix Komolong, Sammy Cambell, Daniel Joe, Koriak Upaiga, Jeremy Yasasa, Otto Kusunan, Simon Emmanuel, David Muta, Wira Wama, Papalau Awele, Tommy Semmy;  Ronald Warisan, Valentine Nelson, Japhet Tiampo, Michael Foster, Raymond Gunemba, Nigel Dabinyaba, John Bai, Philip Steven, Patrick Aisa, Charles Lepani, Roland Bala, Jacob Sabua,  Agi Moses.
