THE Electoral Commission is ready to deliver a successful election despite the negative publicity and allegations in the media over the past months, Deputy Electoral Commissioner John Kalamoroh said yesterday.
Kalamoroh was speaking at Tubusereia village during the final day of the common roll objection period there.
He said many districts were now into the process of roll display, an initiative that had only been practised for the coming election and which had to be completed before the issue of writs on April 27.
He said only a few were still going through the data input process and those rolls would be dispatched to the respective council wards before April 27.
Kalamoroh said several intending candidates were complaining that their names were not on the roll but that was not a problem for them as they could go ahead and enrol when they filed their nomination as that was allowed for intending candidates.
“However, voters who do not have their names on the roll will miss out so make sure your names are listed on the preliminary roll as it goes through the process which started two weeks ago,” he said.
Central province election manager Kila Egaba said the province was ready for the election as the rolls had been dispatched for objections and inclusion of names.
He said 14 days had been given for public
display at each wards in the province.
He said although they had difficulty dispatching rolls to several parts of Goilala, they had managed to send
them.
