A SENIOR police officer has urged members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) to conduct their policing duties within the framework of the law.

Director Internal Affairs Chief Supt Victor Isouve issued the warning to all police officers in the country after laying serious criminal charges against a police station commander in Port Moresby last week.

Isouve is appealing to officers to maintain standards and  operating procedures, constabulary standing orders and the good police practices.

“I wish to appeal to all police officers to adhere to the standard police operating procedures, standing orders, good police practice and to conduct the policing duties within the framework of the law,” he said.

Isouve said police did not any licence to commit a crime and if they did they did not have immunity from prosecution.
