Senior police officer ‘in hiding’ after sex with new recruit
A senior police training officer at the Bomana Police Training College “has gone into hiding” after allegedly having sex with a female recruit in the transit barracks in Port Moresby, college commander Superintendent Peter Philip said.
“His family has been advised to evict the barracks if their father continues to avoid investigations,” he said.
“Also that female recruit has been terminated from the college.”
Philip said the senior officer was under investigation for allegedly abusing his duty to protect and train young female officers under his custodian.
“He has taken a female recruit into the transit barracks and had sex with her.
“So he has gone into hiding. I had sent my officers to search for him and we found him being employed in a company outside the college.
“He was brought here to get his suspension notice. Instead, he ran away again.
“I have given instructions to his family to go and join him.
“I will forfeit the house now.
“This is Bomana Police College and it is not a settlement where you can do anything you want.
“So I’m serving disciplinary actions against recruits, pass-outs and even senior college staff.”
Philip said that he had charged two probationary police officers for writing directly to the special service division and traffic directorate to join up with the units within the force.
Both passed out in 2016 and have been attached to the college administration. They decided to breach the chain of command and write straight to these respective divisions.
“They were supposed to write to me first to express their intention and I will make recommendations,” Philip said.
“Not for them to bypass me and deal directly with these divisions.”
