Senior public servants take oath of employment

RETIRED Navy commander Commodore Peter Ilau was among 11 senior public servants who took an oath of employment before Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio at Government House on Tuesday.
Ilau was appointed as Ambassador to Indonesia, Vietnam and Laos.
Of the 11, eight are heads of the missions and three are departmental heads.
The heads of missions are:
l    Christopher Mero – Ambassador to China;
l    Robert Aisi – Permanent Representative to the United Nations;
l    Peter Eafeare – High Commissioner to Fiji, Nauru, Tuvalu and Kiribati;
l    Tarciscius Eri – High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh;
l    Brian Yombon Copio – High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands;
l    Gabriel Dusava – Ambassador to Japan;
l    Peter Ilau – Ambassador to
Indonesia, Vietnam and Laos;
l    Kila Karo – High Commissioner to Singapore.
The heads of departments are:
l    John Sini Porti – secretary for Defence;
l    Pascoe Kase – secretary for Health, and,
l    Marc Orisuru – Gulf provincial administrator.
Most heads of missions did not turn up to sign the contract as they were already at their designated locations.
Karo, who was appointed as the high commissioner to Singapore for four years was the only one present to sign his contract.
Foreign Affairs and Immigration acting secretary Lucy Bogari signed on behalf of those who were already out of country.
The ceremony was witnessed by secretary for Personnel Management John Kali, Bogari, family members and the media.
