A senior business executive from a leading wholesale and retail shop in Wewak is nursing knife wounds in hospital after being attacked in a failed robbery attempt on Sunday.
East Sepik provincial police commander Vincent Pokas said three suspects hid inside the Tang Mow Ltd main store when it closed for business on Saturday, stayed there until morning when they held up Michael Tang in the store and asked for the keys to the safe.
Tang refused to hand over the keys and was stabbed before the thieves fled with items like mobile phones.
Pokas said five suspects had been identified and among them was the skipper of a
boat who aided their escape.
He said two suspects were picked up on Monday and yesterday while his men were working around the clock to apprehend the other three who were still at large.
