SEPIK General Secretary Clarence Hukahu says they are thrilled with their purple patch in the Northern Conference of the Women’s National Soccer League, having won their last four matches.
He said the team had issues with their combinations during the first two rounds in which they suffered a loss and draw.
But they have since turned their season around with four-straight wins to move up to second spot on the conference ladder, thanks to a reshuffle in their line-up.
They now face conference leaders Poro in the top-of-the-table clash in round seven at Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium on Saturday (9am kick-off).
Hukahu said their technical team were working on a four-five-one formation (four defenders, five midfielders and one forward) which they had used in their last four games.
“We’re using that format in a bid to dominate the midfield and defend well,” he said.
“Our defenders have been solid.
“They have certainly improved from the first two rounds.
“We will be using the same format against Poro.”
Hukahu said despite their purple patch, they needed to be more clinical in attack.
“We will work on this area before the match against Poro,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hukahu said they were looking to sign a striker in the Women’s National Soccer League transfer window later this month.
“We have 22 players, 19 are based in Lae, two from Madang and one from Ramu,” he said.
