THE Sepik Futsal Association (SFA) will kick off its pre-season competition at the end of this month and will run till the end of May before the season kicks off in July, according to an official.
SFA president Clarence Hukahu told The National that all 12 associations under SFA would run their own competitions before sending their representatives to compete in the futsal championships which were scheduled for the Independence weekend.
The associations are Wewak Central, Nuigo, Karasau, Wewak Ward Seven, Wewak West (YC/Kaindi), Wewak East (Malasi), Moem Barracks, Wewak Urban Schools, Numbo, Aitape, Vanimo and Boikin.
The championships will see the participation of Under-12s, U14s, U16s (mixed), and the men’s and women’s divisions.
“We’ve already sent the events calendar to the respective association executives, it’s up to them to ensure their competitions run and they have teams for the championships,” Hukahu said.
He said their futsal programme had reached many parts of East Sepik as well as Vanimo and Aitape, the only district they are yet to reach was Ambunti-Dreikikir.
