The Sepik Tenkiles are keen to give their opposition a run for their money in the Sports Tok Sevens rugby union tournament at Bava Park in Port Moresby later this month. Last year, they joined the tournament and made it to the semifinals.
For this year, they are in Pool A with reigning champions PC Raven, Arob Barbarians and Fly Eagles.
“My team will be the underdogs in the pool but I have great confidence in my boys,” Sepik Tenkiles coach Immanuel ToMarum said.
“It’s a privilege for my team in their development stage to play in the same pool as the reigning champions.
“We are looking forward to this as it will provide the team with a great experience which they can bring back to the province to improve the code.”
ToMarum, who is also the Sepik Rugby Union president, said due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they were now playing their second leg of matches with finals set for this weekend.
He said more than 40 players had joined the training squad but the side would be trimmed to 20 men.
