Serve everyone equally: Naru
The National, Monday March 31st, 2014
Leaders in Morobe inherited a legacy of self-centredness and greed and it is affecting service delivery, Morobe Governor Kelly Naru says.
Naru has urged Morobe leaders to serve everybody fairly and equally for the province’s development.
He said true leaders were servants of the people.
“Leaders must become servants of the people,” Naru said.
“Let us follow the example of Jesus Christ. Let us serve in the true sense of the word.”
Naru said public servants and political leaders should come down on their knees and serve the people.
“We have not seen development because leaders have been serving their buddies and cronies,” Naru said. “If you are serving selectively, you must stop now,” he said.
“Serve everybody and everyone fairly and equally.
“Worst of all if you are serving yourself, that is an unforgivable sin,” he said.
Naru said leaders in the province were doing this at the expense of the people so must “tow the line, shape up or ship out.”
Naru reminded Morobeans not to pressure their leaders by handing them “hap brown pepa” (letters and proposals) on the road.
“You must follow due process and not short cut,” Naru warned.
“The leaders are here to serve you,” he said.
