THE Madang provincial budget should reflect the policy and guidelines which will improve the quality of life of the people, Governor Sir Arnold Amet said yesterday.
Sir Arnold said this when handing down the 2010 provincial budget of K76.5 million last week.
He said the expectations, needs and aspirations of the people of Madang was to see a government that demonstrated and provided good leadership and governance.
Sir Arnold said people required their government and its administration to be professionally competent, faithful, and diligent and, importantly, be transparent and accountable.
The public also required them to be disciplined in carrying out their mandated responsibilities with integrity, he said.
Sir Arnold said one aspect of good leadership was dialogue and consultation between the provincial, the local level government and the administration.
He said there was a need to review and improve on the processes and structure of Government’s service delivery.
“Therefore, there was a need to improve on the skills and abilities to be better leaders and mangers to provide services effectively,” Sir Arnold said.
