THE Lutheran Church of Hope parish in East Taraka, Lae, has dedicated 49 leaders from its three congregations after eight years of interim leadership.
The leaders were dedicated after attending two months of training on church structure, liturgy and pastoral care and leadership under the guidance of the parish’s Pastor Dullen Ziaring.
The participants were from Gejamsao (womens), youth, Sunday school and parish council members.
The parish has been under the caretaker leadership of interim chairman Paul Isan, deputy Reilly Nigo and treasurer Gomi Gipe since 2011.
It held an election in 2010 for new executives and parish council, but was unsuccessful so the Lae city circuit stepped in and appointed interim leadership.
It consists of three congregations of East Taraka, New camp near Igam Barracks and PNG University of Technology Lutheran students and staff fellowship.
The parish is under Lae city circuit in Jabem district of Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Isan said an annual general meeting will be held towards end of this month or in mid-May and they were going to hold a fresh election for new executives.
“The stage is now set for new election for the circuit to do induction.”
Circuit president Rev Baafekec Bamiringnuc thanked the parish for its nurturing programme and said there was unity and encouraged the leaders.
“God knew you before you were born,” he told them.
“He knows you as you are now.”
