Set committee for teachers college
CAN the Education secretary set up a committee to check all the year one lists against their original grade 10 and 12 certificates in all teachers colleges in the country?
There is a clear evidence that quality has been compromised in non-school leaver selections in all primary teachers’ college enrollment.
Some students currently enrolled do not know how to write simple English sentence or communicate using proper English when speaking.
How do we expect these students to graduate as teachers and teach our children?
A committee should be set up comprising of a member of the police fraud squad, officers from the Measurement Services Unit, Education Department and PNG Teaching Service Commission.
Unlike other professions, teaching is the transmission of knowledge and skills and, therefore, school and non-school leaver selections are very important.
Students selected into teaching colleges must be grade 12 school leavers with a GPA of at least 2.4.
Also, students with good backgrounds in English, maths and science in secondary education should be enrolled so they can enhance the skills and knowledge that they have.
Right now, selection now is based on who you know and not merit-based.
Unless a proper physical audit is done on all documents, there is no guarantee for quality education in this country.

I personally agree with you bro…in my school there is one teacher with two different name…when asked for his grade 10 &12 certificate,he said he lost the them…how on Earth will this happened to your documents even proper situational report can not be written properly… government luksave lo dispala..
Totally agreed. I am the son of Morobe Born & raised Morobe I seen from recent years that Balop Teachers College is now dominated by Highlanders.What is going on here in Lae are we breeding PIGS or we have to have the equal distributions of selections across all citizens of PNG. Principles & others need to stop getting bribery & select students base on Merit

Simple you are dead in the brain, Highlanders are 10 times brighter than you..be a slave in your home town.

Terminate all principal in all Teachers Colleges, replace them with God fearing ones we may see some changes,
& Education Measurement Unit should develop some questions for teachers already on field for reassessments,
to weed out low quality teachers performing below average…….
As long as you are a PNG citizen, black,white or colored from different regions, the BTC is yours. Selecting students on merit is important. We dont have to point fingers here and there, Childis act. Screening process is paramount.
