ALLOW me to express my concern about the statement that Dr Glen Mola made on the EMTV programme, ‘Olsem Wanem’ on on Feb 7.

He stated that he was ashamed to go asking for medication for cancer patients in Australia or elsewhere when our country is supposed to be rich in resources and capable of looking after its own people.

When our leaders talk about economic growth and LNG resources etc, it should show in the domestic arena where the average people are benefiting from all forms of service whether health, education, roads and infrastructure.

Why do the women who are supposed to be the backbone of this nation suffer and have to go to Lae only to receive treatment?

Why not set up cancer treatment centers in all the major towns of our nation and put up all the latest equipment and stock up medicine so all the women can receive treatment and do not have to wait until the cancer has gone to its final stage where more than 1000 lives and lost each year.

The majority of women in PNG are villagers and low-come earners.

Can the government  look into this staggering report and do something quick. It is an emergency.
