Set up research and development centre

Letters

IT is time the Government set up a research and development centre in Papua New Guinea.
The Government should be focused on research and developments in the country.
We have a vast economic resources base, but how do we go about it is something that needs to be seriously looked into and acted on.
It is not always necessary to heavily rely on imported products.
It is time our education system is diversified to capture how our natural resources will be processed and manufactured into products in the country.
We have enough university graduates, but their training should be tailored towards research and developing our natural resources into products.
It is about time our theoretical understanding is converted into developing processes and products.
There are some things that are not supposed to be imported that are still being imported.
We cannot go on like this.
We should start acting now while we still have adequate natural resources. We should not to fall into the trap of other failed economies.
It is about time a research and development centre is set up in order to receive the maximum benefits from our resources that are leaving our shores in return for a minimum benefit.
Our graduates should focus on manufacturing.
Let us move away from our usual education style and focus on research, development, processing and manufacturing.
It is not difficult, we just are not putting any effort into this.
