Vailima will clash with PTPS&L Telikom in the women’s premier match-of-the-weekend in the NCD Volleyball Association at Taurama Indoor and Aquatic Centre tomorrow.
Telikom is running third, behind Ela Motors and Scorpions, while Vailima is fourth in the rankings after five games.
Telikom is a solid unit in the women’s premier division this season — both individually and as a team.
The telephone techs have Madia Hairai, Kemmy Manoni, Alice Ito, Bibiana Paloa and Janner Bernard.
Their opponents Vailima are not far behind and have their share of good players in Lois Garena, Patricia Gibson, Mary Daure, Linder Simoi and setter Bala Babaga.
This is one of the strongest Vailima women’s sides in years.
Both sides have good hitters but it is going to boil down to passing and good ball control.
Good passing will enable Vailima’s Bala, who varies her sets, and Telikom’s Darton and Temu, who are known for their mostly-open sets, to give options. The setter who stays aggressive and varies her sets will guide her team to victory.
In the other women’s fixtures, Ela Motors is tipped to beat One-Six Pawa, U-Mi Yet should overcome Vanama and Scorpions should beat Laudanu.
On the men’s court, Strive Stars should stretch Ela Motors, U-Mi Yet must step up their game when they face competition leaders, Vanama, the Scorpions’ firepower should be too much for Laudanu and the game between Vailima and Telikom should go the full distance.
