Settlers have themselves to blame

I FIND Paga Hill settler’s demand as utter rubbish.

How can you demand for free water and power services, including other utilities, when you do not even own that piece of land?

Commonsense must prevail, all public utilities in Port Moresby comes with a fee and Mogerema Baim’s demand for his people to be provided with free services before they move out is a big joke.

Such mentality of the Highlands region should be taken back home and must not be entertained.

The youths should blame their parents for illegally occupying that piece of  land and bringing them up in that environment rather than blaming the developer and demanding from the government.

This is just one of the many wake-up calls for NCDC and other state authorities to check on all state  lands  within the vicinity of the city and make  sure no one is occupying them or putting up illegal structures.

For the betterment of everyone, anyone found to be occupying or putting up any illegal structure on state lands should be asked to vacate to avoid such problems and to reduce the number of illegal settlements in the city.

So far very little attention is given to such practice  and no action is taken by  the  authorities  to control this practice.

Finally, I feel for those settlers who may be affected and would appeal to all good citizens in Port Moresby to think first before putting up any form of structures.

Remember, this is not your  land  but  state  land and  the state or any developer  has  the  right  to do anything on such land.
