Sevens tourney calls for sides to register

SPOTS in the annual Sports Tok rugby sevens tournament are limited with organisers calling on interested teams to submit their registrations before the closing the date on Monday.
Tournament director Elsie Passingan said the event had attracted interest from teams nationwide, however, limited space would see only a handful of sides grab spots in April.
“There is less than a week left for registration,” she said.
“We already have good number of teams registered which include sides from Lae, Daru, Madang, Rabaul, Kimbe and Port Moresby.
“Registration closes on Monday and there is limited spots available, so interested teams must register this week.
“There are interested teams from Alotau, Kavieng Kimbe Lae, Wewak and Goroka.
“But it’s an invitational tournament so which team registers on time will secure a spot for this year.
“We are hopeful of having at least one Highlands team as there was no side from the region last year.
“It’s first come, first serve.
“But we do have guidelines and tournament regulations on which teams will follow and from experience, it has worked well.”
